Her presentation, "Revealing Buried Waveguide Defects in Stacked Photonic Chips via Through-Silicon Imaging," explores how high-resolution infrared transmission microscopy enables non-destructive inspection of buried photonic structures through thick silicon.

About the Presentation
As photonic devices continue to evolve toward increasingly complex and stacked architectures, inspecting buried structures becomes more challenging. Conventional optical microscopy cannot image through silicon, making non-destructive inspection difficult during device development and failure analysis.
This presentation demonstrates how a high-resolution infrared transmission microscope can reveal buried waveguide defects through two stacked silicon substrates with a combined thickness of approximately 1.4 mm. Images acquired at both 10× and 40× magnification show that detailed inspection is possible without aberration correction, highlighting the potential of infrared microscopy for advanced photonic and semiconductor applications.
